Open Call for Billy Elliot's Ballet Girls

Attention all half pints in pointe shoes: Billy Elliot  is searching for talented youngsters to join its ranks! On September 18, the Tony-winning musical is holding an open call for Ballet Girls. Sign-ups for the audition will begin at 10 AM and will take place at Broadway’s Broadhurst Theatre.

A notice on the show’s website describes what the creative team will be looking for at the casting call:

"Girls: age 8-12, Maximum height: 4'10"
Strong dancers with good ballet and strong tap. Some girls may be required to do pointe work. Seeking a variety of sizes, shapes and types, (tiny, chubby, lanky, quirky, etc) with expressive character and lots of personality, not the traditional ballerina. Wear dance clothes and bring tap, jazz, and ballet shoes. Bring a recent photo and resume as well as sheet music to sing."
